RVA Live Music | Thundercat, Glimmer, Deathcat, Rikki Rakki

Lotta indie and a lot of dreamy shoegaze with a healthy dose of funk and hip hop this week. Got a show coming up? New single? Simply want someone to talk music? Hit us up at griffin@rvamag.com. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ormQQG2UhtQ Thundercat,...

Tim Barry, Part One | Maximum Occupancy: 330 Unless AVAIL Is Playing

To this day, I have zero talent with an instrument and have never been in anything resembling a good band, though I tried anyway. I was always a “writer,” though. I always had a way with words. Hardly the right ones most of the time, but I was never shy with an...

RVA Live Music | Basement, Eastern Standard Time, Young Scum, The Get Off

We are talking ska, we are talking mod, we are talking emo. Took a turn there at the end, but we are in for tons of good stuff this week. Got a show coming up? New single? Simply want someone to talk music? Hit us up at griffin@rvamag.com....

Thundercat Has Entered the Chat

Next Saturday, October 17th, the weird, funky spaceship that carts Thundercat around will land in Richmond for his show at The National. As a massive fan, I will absolutely be there. His is the kind of unique sound that makes a concert a “happening.” A funk so deep...

RVA Live Music | Public Image Ltd, Celler Dwellers, I Have A Dreampop Fest, Squirrel Flower, Curtis Sydnor

Lots of my favorites out here this week. Great way to enter fall with a nice mix of atmospheric drone balanced out by some twangy fun. Got a show coming up? New single? Simply want someone to talk music? Hit us up at griffin@rvamag.com....

Richmond Has The Talent. Tilt Studio Puts It in the Same Room.

“Richmond has always had this DIY, collaborative spirit, and I think projects like this are a great expression of that. There's a lot of talent here, and when those different creative communities start crossing paths, I think the city gets more interesting.” —...
