Here’s a fascinating and cool coincidence–touring to celebrate the release of their ninth album, Centipede Hz, Animal Collective will be bringing their latest tour to the area with a stop at Merriweather Post Pavilion, the long-running concert venue after which they named their eighth album. And we have two tickets to that show to give away! After recording Merriweather Post Pavilion as a three-piece, Avey Tare, Panda Bear, and Geologist have been rejoined by fourth member Deakin for Centipede Hz and for this latest tour. You can expect an energetic live performance, as well as some sweet visuals, from the quartet, who will almost certainly be excited as well to perform so close to their original hometown of Baltimore. Needless to say, the fact that they’ll be performing at a venue they found important enough to name an album after should be a factor in ramping up the intensity as well. Animal Collective will be joined at Merriweather Post Pavilion by Micachu And The Shapes, an experimental postpunk band from the UK whose off-kilter pop tunes should provide the perfect warmup for Animal Collective’s main event.
