flipturn has never been the kind of band to rush success. Their journey from house shows in Gainesville, Florida to festival stages like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza is marked by grit and endurance. Tracks from their new album, Burnout Days, hit hard with a mix of airy atmospheres and sharp, rhythmic bursts, reminding everyone that indie rock still has something to say. Songs like “Juno” felt like sonic architecture—deliberate yet spontaneous, a reflection of a band unafraid to lean into both precision and chaos.
Sharing the bill, Colony House brought their Tennessee roots to the forefront with the same authenticity that’s driven their career. Their latest album, The Cannonballers, is an ode to the restless and nostalgic. With tracks like “Man on the Run,” the band delves into the tension between the past and the future, offering no easy answers—just the feeling that we’re all barreling toward something, even if we don’t know what it is.
Opening the night was Dogpark, a Richmond outfit that cut their teeth at University of Richmond before growing into a band with national appeal. Their sound, steeped in ’90s indie rock sensibilities, feels unpolished in all the right ways. The crowd responded to their raw energy, and with an upcoming album on the horizon, Dogpark is ready to move beyond local stages.
