OK, this is awesome. Postpunk/new wave legends New Order, who spent most of the last decade broken up, are back together and touring the USA once again–and we’re trying to send some lucky RVA Mag readers to their show at Merriweather Post Pavilion for free! Reuniting in 2011 with 3/4 of their original lineup–singer/guitarist Bernard Sumner, keyboardist Gillian Gilbert, and drummer Stephen Morris, who are now joined by guitarist/keyboardist Phil Cunningham and bassist Tom Chapman–the band has returned to action with the release earlier this year of Lost Sirens. This eight-song mini-LP collects tracks recorded at the same time as 2005’s Waiting For The Siren’s Call and demonstrates New Order’s continued facility with both guitar-driven alternative pop (“I’ll Stay With You,” “Californian Grass”) and electronic disco grooves (“Sugarcane,” “Shake It Up”). And of course fans can expect to hear a wide selection of classic tunes from their three-decade career–“Bizarre Love Triangle,” “Age Of Consent,” “Blue Monday,” “Regret,” and so many more. It’s gonna be a great time, and you won’t wanna miss it!
