The new issue of RVA Magazine hits the streets this week! RVA #29 ends this summer with an overloaded issue that celebrates the style and sound of Virginia’s capital in only a way RVA Magazine can. Brought to you as always from journalists and writers entrenched in the scene, our coverage continues our esteemed legacy of throughout coverage that is as vibrant as it is sharp. For those wanting an accurate depiction of culture in Richmond, look no further than RVA #29 and the style guide it provides.
African-American artist Mickalene Thomas graces the cover of RVA #29 as the arts section takes a look at her work and current exhibit at the Virginia Museum Of Contemporary Art, as well as the work of Charlottesville’s Common House brought to you by contributor Jill Smith and RVA Magazine founder R. Anthony Harris.
Taylor Peterson has the scoop on the EDM culture forming at local venue Kabana, while photographer and writer Ken Penn provides an in-depth look at the recent United Blood Fest. Also on the music side, Drew Necci tells the story of intrepid pop punk band The Weak Days and their widespread reach, while Shannon Cleary looks at the arrival of local rockers Camp Howard into Richmond’s scene. James Miessler has all the details on the latest record from metal giants Iron Reagan. Finally, staff writer Davy Jones examines Armando Munoz’s music under the OlNuBi moniker, as well as provides an in-depth profile on Andrew Carter, or Minor Poet as he is now known.
In addition to these discerning profiles, RVA #29 will feature its usual renowned coverage of craft beer with RVA ON TAP, recording news, album reviews, Richmond culture spread DONT SLEEP, our expanded food section GOOD EATS RVA, and introducing MASS APPEAL RVA, our new fashion coverage headed by Megan Wilson.
Keep an eye out for the new issue as our friends as we continue our distro with Quickness RVA, further pushing RVA Mag into a modern, green future. RVA #29 will be available at breweries, restaurants, local boutiques and other hot spots around Richmond over the next few days, so keep an eye out and enjoy the mag!
