GWAR to Unveil Monument Honoring Dave Brockie at Hollywood Cemetery

Richmond’s legendary intergalactic overlords, GWAR, are set to honor their late founder and frontman, Dave Brockie, with a permanent monument in Hollywood Cemetery, one of the city’s most historic resting places.

The unveiling will take place on Friday, August 30, at 2 PM, and fans, friends, and fellow scumdogs are invited to attend and pay their respects. To further celebrate Brockie’s legacy, GWARbar will host a free party on Saturday, August 31, giving attendees another chance to gather and commemorate his life.

“The erection of this monument has been a long time coming,” GWAR stated in a press release—yes, they went there. “We are grateful and happy we can finally do this for Dave. We thank the many people who donated time and money to make this a reality.”

The band hopes the memorial will serve as a lasting tribute to Brockie, both as a talented artist and the man behind Oderus Urungus, one of rock’s most unforgettable frontmen.

For more details, keep an eye on GWAR and GWARbar’s social media. GWARbar is located at 217 W. Clay St. in Jackson Ward.
