Ad Week is way too comfortable with these Civil War inspired UCI ads

Local ad gurus The Martin Agency rustled up some neat images and radio ads supporting the UCI bike race – not sure where they are playing or being shown but Ad Week found them and got pumped.

The Harper’s-style etchings link bike/UCI imagery with old civil war etches. It’s cute, if you don’t live where it actually all went down, and you aren’t still seeing the ramifications of a war fought over slavery that ripped this country apart.

Scratchboard artist Steven Nobel, whose clients range from Mercedez-Benz to Annheiser-Busch to Northrup-Grumman, dug the pieces out for the Martin Agency, and the final product is quite beautiful… but yea, still a little creepy.

Ad Week says they prints will be posted around RVA during the race, so keep an eye out.

Sadly it seems the radio spots have been pulled from youtube, but you can check out some of the images below:

REVIEW | Ducking Awesome! WitchDuck Is Smart, Sharp, and Ruthless

I am rarely speechless, especially about theatre. Since I don’t get paid if I remain silent, I will make myself criticize a play I don’t feel I have any right to judge. Gotta pay the rent, and all that. I came into this performance of WitchDuck by Cadence and...

Richmond Had a General Strike and a First Friday on the Same Night

It was 72 and breezy. Unseasonably pleasant, almost chilly. VCU students were splayed out on picnic blankets in Monroe Park enjoying soft serve and the sunshine. Citronella and the smell of hot dogs wafted through the air from some folks having a cookout. “High...
