Doctor Astronaut’s Star Slam #2

by | Mar 26, 2012 | ART

The new moon in Aries on the 22nd, along with the Sun in Aries, is giving everyone that sense of urgency. And if that wasn’t enough, did I mention Uranus in Aries on the 24th? That kind of fire makes us cocky, aggressive, and a bit premature in our actions, whether or not the timing is appropriate. It probably isn’t.

Don’t assume anything right now. Expect some boat rocking. Mercury Retrograde still isn’t helping with all the glitchy technology and mixed messages. And Mars Retrograde is making our personal desires more intense. Here’s two cents worth: Listen carefully, and speak clearly. Be a bit more passive. The world is still moving forward.

Or…throw a tantrum. You’ll just be the big crying baby after mommy puts her bra back on.

Aries/Aries Rising

I bet right now, as you are waiting for all those manifestations to… well… manifest already, you’re rereading the small print. Or, perhaps, reading it for the first time. You committed. And now you’ve rammed yourself into what looks like a wall. Relax a little. Think of that wall as nothing more than a wave–it slows before it can build momentum again, but then SWOOOOSH!!

So be sure to get all your vitamins and minerals, SuperRam. Also… remember that cutie tapping on your shoulder.

Taurus/Taurus Rising

Taurus is feeling extra energized in all the right ways right now. But there’s that pesky inner voice reminding you that you will never know if that new unknown path may have greener pastures unless you try it. Whatever IT may be, you are certainly using your Taurean charms at the moment, romantically or not. Are you directing them towards the new path, or down that same old rut you know you’ve gotten into?

Here’s to hoping! Buy yourself a shot, or better yet, let him or her.

Gemini/Gemini Rising

You are blessed and cursed during periods of Mercury Retrograde. You seem to be finding clarity amongst THEIR confusion. Which is yours, by association, isn’t it? These are times when you must avoid repeating old patterns of rushed thinking. Breathe in. Listen. Breathe out. Think about it.

Don’t be surprised by anything. Don’t take anything personally.

Cancer/Cancer Rising

You’ve been watching the sorrows of the world from a distance. The new moon is making you uneasy about all the change as of recent, good or bad. Crabs always know gloom and doom to be lurking around the corner, ready to bite you in the ass. Right now it seems like two steps forward. But be prepared for one nostalgic step back into dreamy, contemplative, Pisces land.

This is a time of revelations, and vertigo. Wear your shell like a light sweater.

Leo/Leo Rising

Hopefully, you’ve been taking the time to sort out paperwork, Lions and Lionesses. Financially, or otherwise. You may not understand why people aren’t doing what you ask of them. They were totally reasonable expectations. Right? Don’t answer that. Just handle your personal tedious tasks for a week or two.

Get your things in order because anything can happen in the next couple of weeks, and suddenly, you’ll be involved in new experiences, far off lands, and… wait, who’s driving?

Virgo/Virgo Rising

Virgo is being unusually naughty, or at least thinking about it. You know what gets you into trouble, but now your ego is involved and you seem to be demanding attention, good and bad. Stop forcing it. You should take this time to enjoy yourself.

You’re attractive to many right now with all that assertiveness, but remember there are consequences to ambition, whatever your point of focus may be.

Libra/Libra Rising

Don’t push yourself or others too much, Libra. You’re still feeling off balance. In your efforts to make things right on one end of the teeter-totter, you are running too quickly to the other, and pushing people out of the way in the process. You seem to be experiencing clashes of interest in various aspects of your world. You might even think people are picking on you. You are probably picking on yourself too.

Either way, you’re going to have to bring yourself comfort if you can’t play nice with others.

Scorpio/Scorpio Rising

Reserve your resources, Scorps. You’re feeling the urgency to seek affection and recognition and you are probably demanding a lot without realizing it. You are often elusive about your inner passions. That new leaf that you’ve been working to turn over might ruffle some feathers. The more aggressive transits can cause you to overdo things.

Try to focus on taking care of your body.

Sagittarius/Sagittarius Rising

Be careful what you say, and how you say it. Don’t make important decisions now, if you can help it. You are internalizing some frustration in relationships that will need to come out sooner or later. You’ll have the chance to voice them soon if you haven’t already, whether people are ready to hear it or not. They aren’t.

You probably need to get out for some fresh air. A little perspective couldn’t hurt. Then go ahead and say what you need to say.

Capricorn/Capricorn Rising

The goat is poised and reserved, unless provoked. You’d rather not be involved in all the competition and crazy-making. So for your own sake, watch for aggressive behavior as you are facing a fair amount of uncertainty. People can be flakes.

But now is your time to live it up. Fortune has been bestowed on you recently. If you don’t celebrate, you’d better count your blessings while they’re still there.

Aquarius/Aquarius Rising

Obstacles and roadblocks seem to have cleared somewhat. Now you can see a few bridges that weren’t completely burned–maybe just left a bit untidy, or unmanaged. You can reconnect and reconcile now, and you’ll probably be surprised at what you hear or see.

Enjoying your favorite vices lately are we? Nobody can blame you. But observe your spending closely.

Pisces/Pisces Rising

Security is the subject of attention for now, at least for as long as it can hold your attention, Pisces. Watch your spending. You’re a bit susceptible to slipping in and out of the present, but you seem to be drifting into the future at the moment. Relationships of all kinds should be smooth, especially of the romantic variety. But when you start feeling any opposition (possibly from dominant men), this helps:

“The Serenity Prayer
God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace…” — Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)

Review | ‘Confederates’ Doesn’t Let Anyone Off Easy

“Oh, I’m going to have a field day with this.” These were my exact words to friend and artist Kyle Epps as I got up from my seat at Firehouse Theatre Saturday night. As we shuffled out of the theatre into the lobby, I took inventory of the stack of insights Dominique...

Review | Oscar Wilde Still Knows Exactly Who We Are

The Importance of Being Ernest has been on my radar since I was 13, when my beloved Morrissey mentioned Oscar Wilde in an interview. (Mind you, this was long before Morrissey’s far-right weirdo rants.) As a massive fan of the arch, wry, witty lyrics of the Smiths and...

Review | Little Bear Ridge Road is an Artistic Gut Punch

Little Bear Ridge Road, does something you rarely see in popular media these days. It reminisces on the period during and just after Covid. Somehow, collectively, we’ve silently agreed to just not talk about it anymore. We don’t want to relive it on TV, in books, or...

Can Firehouse Put Richmond on the National Theatre Map?

In the electric and perpetually sincere terrain of Richmond’s theatre culture, there are institutions that do more than merely reside, they lead. They serve as a measure of our city's potential beyond its natural aspirations. I've witnessed Firehouse Theatre inhabit...
