The World According to Sam Chivers

by | Mar 10, 2010 | ART

In looking over Sam Chiver’s artblog you can see that he is constantly evolving his ideas. The blog runs back to 2008 when he was screenprinting women vampires and fire mistresses, painting anonymous happy faces over old magazine photos, cut out collages of complete abstract landscapes to now doing digital work for clients from bands to corporations that combines all of this elements. I dont know how young Sam is but the progression from optimistic experimenter to making-a-living professional can be the most interesting period of an artist’s career and his is on display at www.samchivers.com.

I created Richmond, Virginia’s culture publication RVA Magazine and brought the first Richmond Mural Project to town. Designed the first brand for the Richmond’s First Fridays Artwalk and promoted the citywide “RVA” brand before the city adopted it as the official moniker. I threw a bunch of parties. Printed a lot of magazines. Met so many fantastic people in the process. Professional work: www.majormajor.me
