It’s approaching that time of year where you actually look at that overwhelming Christmas list and decide it’s time to start crossing some things off. Before your lengthy list gives sends you into a frenzy, head over to Chop Suey Books’ 12th annual Bizarre Holiday Market to help you cross at least a few things off.

With an all-star lineup of local crafters, the Bizarre Market is raved to be your one stop shop for all your holiday needs. Here you can find ceramics, jewelry, cards, prints, toys, housewares, accessories and charming oddities that has every friend and family member’s name on it.

“We really try to pick enough variety that you can find something for people of different shapes and sizes,” said Bird Cox, Bizarre Market manager. “I think what people should know about handmade market’s especially is that typically it is higher quality than what you are going to find in any other store that sell massed produced things.”

“People have really put their hearts and souls into making these items, and you can tell. They’re well-built and well designed and all of the money is going back into the local economy.”

The Market features an eclectic mix of crafter’s every year and continues to be a community favorite.

“We do try to swap people out because we do get so many applications,” Cox said. “But we do have a few fan favorites that return year after year.”

The market features 50-60 artists and price ranges anywhere from an $8 stocking stuffer to a $200 leather bag.

The Market also features Tiny Auction, an auction that 100 percent of its profits go to support the Richmond Young Writers scholarship fund. The auction runs from November 24 to December 11.
“Everything that is donated to the auction which is donated by artists participating,” said Cox. “Each item is especially made for the auction, it’s not something you can buy from off the shelves of the market.”

Bizarre Market Facebook page, will feature a different artist each day on their Facebook page if you;d like to check out some of their work.
