Our cup is overflowing with news this week, but first head over here to check out what awesome brews were released in Richmond last weekend.

We’ve got new beer releases, Virginia Craft Beer Month news and more so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

Garden Grove Brewing in Carytown has a pretty interesting brew this time around. Dubbed Ron Burgundy, a Strong Scotch Ale, GGBC took the rich, smoky flavors of a traditional Scotch Ale to new heights with the addition of a special ingredient formulated just for us by Chef Will Longoria of The Rogue Gentlemen: Laphroaig Scotch Infused Duck Bacon!Fermentation in wine barrels added even more depth of flavor to this surprisingly balanced, behemoth of a brew.

Hardywood will host its 2nd annual Richmond Roots Festival on Saturday from 2 to 10 pm. Presented in partnership with Multiflora Productions & The Bopst Show. This all day celebration highlights musical styles that draw from world-wide inspiration. ROOTS FESTIVAL LINEUP:
2:15 – Yeni Nostalji – Vintage Inspired Turkish Pop from Amerika

3:15 – Zion #5 Dub Squad – Crucial dub

4:15 – Andrew Alli and The Mainline – Reminiscent of traditional Mississippi and Chicago style blues and strikes a chord in everyone!

5:15 – Araya Woldemichael Ethio-Jazz Quartet – Merging R&B and jazz with traditional Ethiopian songcraft

6:30 – Janka Nabay & the Bubu Gang – A potent mind meld of off-kilter polyrhythmic folk tunes and high-octane psychedelia

7:45 – Black Masala – an irresistible dance groove packed with funk, gypsy-punk and soul

DJ Graybeard [WRIR 97.3 fm Richmond Independent Radio] spins between sets!

This event is FREE to attend and open to all ages. Hardywood taprooms open for service at 2PM, with last call at 9:30PM. Entertainment will be staged outdoors. Enjoy refreshing draft beer and delicious gourmet food from Shamasuki, Happy Empanada, Arroz RVA & Dank Eats!

Isley Brewing is back this Friday with their weekly infusion with a Key Lime Gose.

On Sat. Aug 27, Isley will release a Stunt Dubbel Pumpkin Belgian brew. (Yes, you read that right pumpkin here is already here!)

Strangeways is hosting a Yappy Hour tonight (Wednesday) to benefit Richmond Animal Care and Control and their foundation, Richmond Animal Welfare foundation, Strangeways will be donating 10% OF ALL SALES during Yappy Hour to RAWF. BONUS: RVA New York Style will also be donating 10% of their sales to RAWF that evening, so come hungry! There will be adoptable dogs, treats, and beer specials!

Lickinghole Creek will host an All You Can Pick Sunflower event the entire weekend.

Lakeside’s Final Gravity will celebrate one year as a brewery this Saturday. They will be tapping a keg of their bourbon barrel aged Irish Goodbye that they saved from their opening as well as serving several new beers just for their anniversary.

Chesterfield’s Steam Bell will continue will with their weekly randall series this Thursday. This time, taking their Time Is Money farmhouse IPA and adding in some Sorachi hops.

On Saturday, the brewery will also release Alice Ivers, an ale fermented with chamomile and elderflower.
