Tapped: Isley’s Cherry Infusion, Three Notch’d RVA’s Melon Baller & Triple Crossing’s Can Jam

What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts’ desire.

If you missed last week’s beer news, you can check those out here. Our cup is overflowing with news this week from releases to events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

On Saturday, Isley Brewing will release a limited Cherry-infused Brown Ale. The brewery has taken their Mos Eisley Brown Ale and infused the beer with sweet maraschino cherries. The malty, roasty, nutty flavors of our English Brown Ale meld perfectly with the candy sweet aroma and flavor of the cherries.

On Thursday, Three Notch’d RVA Collab House returns with its weekly collaboration. This time, they’re bringing back a favorite with Melon Baller, an IPA made in collaboration with Hunter Watson, a local craft beer enthusiast who was picked to help make a beer during American Craft Beer Week

Fine Creek Brewing Company out in Powhatan will release White IPA, a soft wheat-based IPA fermented with Norwegian Farmhouse Kveik yeast and fruity hops this week. The brewery will also have Helles Lager and ‘Tiger Yum Yum’ Thai Tea Milk Stout back in the taproom. On Thursday, Fine Creek will donate a portion of their proceeds to fund Bon Secours Medical Mission trip to Haiti and on Sunday, they’re serving brunch.

On Friday, Final Gravity will bring back its Foggy Notion DIPA, an 8.2% brew with Citra, Amarillo, and El Dorado hops.

On Sunday, at their Fulton spot, Triple Crossing will host Can Jam, bringing Threes Brewing‘s and Josh Bernstein’s Can Jam festival from Brooklyn to our city Cans from some breweries across the country will be available for purchase. Some of the featured breweries: Charles Towne Fermentory, Civil Society, Dancing Gnome, Equilibrium, Finback, Foam, and more. Check out the link for the full rundown. Free to attend, pay as you go.

Ahead of their Can Jam festival, Triple Crossing will give you a taste of some of their own brews in cans. Passionfruit | Waxing Poetic Berliner, Cryo Nectar DIPA, and their Dawn Chorus DIPA. will be available along with one more that has yet to be announced…No automatic alt text available.

On Saturday, Chesterfield’s Steam Bell Beer Works will have a bottle release of their Double Chocolate Tiramisu Stout. This 9% Imperial Milk Stout is conditioned with a double dose of Ecuadorian cocoa nibs and fermented on whole vanilla beans, and local Ironclad Coffee Roasters beans.

On Sunday, Kindred Spirit Brewing in Goochland will host its First Annual Chili Cook-Off. Some of Richmond’s best chefs will prepare their own chili and KSB will be pouring the brews. Chili tasting & 1 KSB Beer = $15, Chili tasting & 2 KSB Beers = $20.

Vasen Brewing has just released their latest sour ale, Everything Floats, made with hops from three continents: Vic Secret (Australia), Mandarina Bavaria (Germany), and Denali (US). The result is a slightly bitter, very hoppy brew bursting with notes of grapefruit and pineapple.

This Saturday, Center of the Universe Brewing in Ashland will host an Anti-Valentines Day party, to drown your sorrows or celebrate your freedom, or whatever your situation maybe this year! There will be live music, food, and Box of Chocolates, an American Stout with notes of dark chocolate and coffee, which will also available on draft in five variants including CHERRY, RASPBERRY, HABANERO, BLUEBERRY, and SALTED CARAMEL.

On Saturday, Castleburg Brewing will release The Siege, a Chocolate Raspberry Stout, brewed with cacao nibs from the Dominican Republic & raspberries.

Twisted Ales Brewing also has Déjà Voodoo, a stout with notes of chocolate, sweet cherry, and vanilla available in their taproom.

Trapezium Brewing in Petersburg will release its Demolition Coffee Stout, which is brewed with the Demolition Coffee blend from Lamplighter Coffee Roasters.

On Friday, Buskey Cider will debut its “Be My Valentine” Rose Petal Lemon Cider.
