What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts desire.

Our cup is overflowing with news this week, but first head over here to check out what awesome brews were released in Richmond last weekend.

So 2017 started off pretty crazy and it seems it’s just getting crazier by the day, but one thing you can count on is RVA Mag will always have the scoop on where you can go to get the finest craft beer in town! This week we have new beer releases, events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

Legend Brewing Company will release 2017’s first installment to their Urban Legend Series this Thursday, ESP ESB an English Bitter sporting a malt backbone and a low hop aroma. Expect a small bite of bitterness and biscuit on the finish.

This Friday, Isley will have a beer & cheese tasting featuring Truckle Cheesemongers. Truckle Cheesemongers, RVA’s finest pop-up cheese shop, will bring a special assortment of artisan cheeses specifically-paired with Isley Craft Beer.

Triple Crossing and The Answer Brewpub have collaborated to bring you one hell of a beer. “Real Recognize Real” is an 8% double IPA hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado that will be released this Friday. Cans and Draft available at noon on March 10th at the Fulton location.

Triple Crossing will also release its Surprise Valley DIPA with Lupulin Powder this Friday at the Fulton spot. Lupulin Powder is a purified concentration of the resin compounds and aromatic oils in whole hop flowers.

On Friday, Strangeways will host “Brews & Burlesque: Marching On” at 9pm featuring producer Moxie LaBouche and boylesque staple Dante the Inferno, Ruby Mechant of NYC, and more. Tickets are $9 in advance, $12 at the door.

On Saturday, Strangeways will also release a 7.35% brew Martian Spring Bière De Mars in bottles. Go find out what this brew is all about and get spacey!

Steam Bell Beer Works will bring back Patchronce this Saturday to their Chesterfield taproom. Patchronce is a 5.7% light-bodied Belgian brewed with blackberries and raspberries. This beer is a collaboration with Blue Bee Cider.

Center of the Universe in Ashland is hosting a special fundraiser this Saturday, March 11. The brewery is throwing a St. Patty’s Day Celebration for the “El Balderinos”, a team shaving their head at the Church Hill Irish Festival this year for The St. Baldricks Foundation, which works to fund research or childhood cancers. The team name is derived from one of their favorite Center of the Universe beers, El Duderino. They have been raising money for this cause for three years now. Last year they raised $15,680 and were one of the top fundraising teams at the Church Hill Irish Festival, second only to a team of 18 from Capital One.

The event this Saturday Live Music, a silent auction, $1,000 worth of Raffle Prizes, food trucks, Limited Irish Beer Release. All proceeds from the beer, auction and raffle go to the foundation.

Ardent Craft Ales will release two versions of their Brett Saison this Saturday, March 11. They will be two wine barrel–aged variants of brew: Chardonnay Brett Saison and Chardonnay Brett Saison with Apricot!

Midnight Brewery will release a special brew this Saturday called Fire Thieves smoke brew named and dedicated personally for author Michael Brigati who wrote the book, “Fire Thieves.” Go out from 1-8pm to support your local Firefighter, Law Enforcement, and EMS community.

Go try out Stone’s new hoppy Stone Pataskala Red X IPA on draft and in bottles to go now that the weather is warming up!

Come help Hardywood celebrate St. Patty’s Day this Sunday with the return of the Shamrock RunRVA 3 mile! This 3 mile road run/walk will start and end at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. Plan to hang out after your run as it will be a day filled with fun for the whole family! Food trucks and live music througout the day. Each racer will receive a event pint glass and custom Shamrock RunRVA finishers medal (bottle opener). Come dressed with Irish spirit as they have a costume contest awarding the best Shamrock themed costume and a “most green” award. (Hardywood Growler and $20 gift card). Charity partner is Feed More.
