What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts’ desire.

We are nearing the end of Virginia Craft Beer Month, but our cup is still overflowing with news this week from releases to events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!
This Thursday, Powhatan’s Fine Creek Brewing Co. is throwing a Back-to-School Teacher Appreciation night. If teachers bring in their ID badge, they’ll get 10% off their tab. 3-8pm. The brewery is also releasing their ‘Colin’s Hugs’ Belgian Golden Strong Ale this Saturday. A rich, golden Belgian ale, clocking in at 9% abv. Bryan Holt will be playing acoustic for us this Saturday the 2nd from 4:30-7:30pm.
On Friday, Triple Crossing will release its Surprise Valley Lupulin Powder DIPA in cans at their Fulton location. This 8% brew is super fruity with notes of pineapple and orange. $16.50 per 4 pack. They will also be releasing a new single hop IPA Downtown in crowlers on Friday.
On Saturday, Castleburg will re-release, The Guillotine Lemongrass and Ginger Witbier, a small batch that they brewed with guest home brewer, Pierre Tremblay. 
This Thursday, Three Notch’d Brewing Company RVA Collab House is back with another collaboration brew. This time, its “Mimosa Gose” with the Brunch Market. The Brunch Market is a monthly Sunday event started by Lunch.SUPPER! Collab taps at 5pm, Brewer’s Toast after 6pm and pint specials on the 1st keg until it kicks or until 9pm.

Midnight Brewery will release “Madcap Monk”, a 9% Belgian Tripel on Saturday.

So the great pumpkin has arrived so everyone can finally calm down about it. Hardywood will release its Farmhouse Pumpkin this Saturday.

On Labor Day, Ardent Craft Ales will host a Pork Pop-Up with Autumn Olive Farms serving up BBQ. They will also have greens, slaw, and mac & cheese whipped up by Bobo Catoe and Craig Perkinson from Southbound to round out your meal. 12-6 pm. 
On Saturday, Center of the Universe Brewing will release its Tailgator Aid Citra and Grapefruit IPA at their tailgate party. We So Shiny will be on stage from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Corn hole boards will be set up and The Cultured Swine will be here slinging dogs and burgers. Let’s introduce this new offering Tailgate Style! Games will be shown on the 20 Foot HD projector all day long (games TBD).
Vasen Brewing recently released Sour Stouthis which follows their trajectory into the sour world with a crisp malt backbone and a true to its name sour taste, sure to please. Go have a taste at the new Scott’s Addition brewery.

On Thursday, Final Gravity will be a part of the VCU Massey Cancer Center & Reverie Distribution beer dinner at Tarrant’s West along with The Veil Brewing Co., The Answer Brewpub , Commonwealth Brewing Company, and Ocelot Brewing Company. Net proceeds to benefit the Massey Cancer Center in honor of Cancer Awareness Month. Tickets are $55/person for the fourse meal which you can purchase here. And you can check out the menu here, which looks absolutely delicious!
Final Gravity will also release its Revelator Dopplebock on Friday.

For the month of August, Strangeways Brewing has chosen SEVA GRREAT, a volunteer-staffed, non-profit organization that rescues abandoned and unwanted Golden Retrievers and places them in approved adoptive homes for their Cheers for Charity. Strangeways will donate 10% of sales during the event to SEVA GRREAT! They will be bringing in a food truck – Hollywood Cheesesteaks!There will also be a chance to buy raffle tickets for a Strangeways Swag bag that included a free private rental space, valued at almost $350! 4-7pm Details here.
Kicking off Sept 1 and running Labor Day Weekend, Strangeways will also host their “Fruits of Our Labor “Day Weekend and Steal the Vessel event. The long-anticipated grand opening of Intermission Beer Company in Henrico kicks off Fri., Sept. 1 through the weekend. Beer, food trucks, a raffle and more. Raffle Tickets for $1 a ticket and $5 for an arm’s length. All Raffle Ticket sales will be donated to the Richmond Theatre Artist Fund. On Saturday, Steam Bell Beer Works brings back The Dawson, a 6.5% Amber Ale brewed with fresh sweet potatoes and toasted pumpkin seeds.

On Thursday, The Veil Brewing Co. will host a Cobra Burger Pop Up. 5p-9pm.
Saturday, Sept. 2, Blue Bee Cider will host a Summer Sendoff Party with their new vintage release of Firecracker, a ginger-infused apple brandy dessert cider collaboration with Catoctin Creek andCasselmonte Farm. Enjoy signature sliders and hand-cut fries from Slideways Mobile Bistro, popsicle treats from King Of Pops – Richmond, live music by The Hot Seats and a boutique clothing pop-up by Mod&Soul.
Buskey Cider is busting out the Nitro! Cider for Labor Day Weekend. This slow pour nitro cider is creamy and brings out both the sweetness and acidity in a perfectly balanced way, and is one of the first ciders that uses nitrogen instead of CO2 in the country.
