Tapped: Triple Crossing’s Waxing Poetic Berliner, Garden Grove’s Elixir of Life, & A Three Notch’d Collab

What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts’ desire.

If you missed last week’s beer news, you can check those out here. Our cup is overflowing with news this week from releases to events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

Isley Brewing is kicking off Saturday right, by celebrating National Peanut Butter Day. The brewery will have two special peanut butter brews including a peanut butter infusion of Blueberry Plain Jane Belgian White Ale and “The Fastidious Father,” their Banana Peanut Butter Porter. Isley will also host a peanut butter bake-off with prizes to the best-baked good.

Triple Crossing’s Fulton spot will bring back its Waxing Poetic Berliner (main image) packed with Blackberry, Blueberry, Boysenberry, and Raspberry. The brewery will also release its Clever Girl IPA cans on Friday.

Triple Crossing will also have Proximity Project, Pink Guava Sliced. It will be on sale at both breweries on Friday, at noon for $14.50 a bottle (4 bottle limit). There will also be draft pours available. Pink Guava Sliced is the second vintage of their wild ale series.

On Thursday, Ardent Craft Ales will release its IPA Batch #32, a beer dry hopped with Lemondrop, Michigan Copper, and Mosaic hops for a super juicy, and tropical brew to warm you up this weekend.

Garden Grove Brewing & Urban Winery will release its collaboration beer with the VMFA, Elixir of Life this Sunday. Its meant to celebrate the special once-in-a-lifetime curated exhibit, Terracotta Army, Legacy of the First Emperor of China. According to Garden Grove’s Facebook page, after some research, they discovered that an” excavation of one of the Terracotta soldier’s tombs unearthed a vessel containing beer made from Millet and Chrysanthemum Flowers.”

On Friday, Final Gravity Brewing will re-release its Private Idaho DIPA. Idaho 7, Simcoe, and Apollo hops fell into the water to bring you this alternate 8 percent DIPA.

Three Notch’d Brewing RVA Collab House returns this Thursday with their weekly collaboration. This time, its “Open Container”,  an Austrailian Pale Ale with Hibiscus made in partnership with Red Hat, an international company that specializes in open source software development. Pint specials start at 4 PM and run till 7 PM. Trivia starts at 7 pm.

It’s Third Thursday at The Veil Brewing Co. this week, and the brewery has chosen HandsOn Greater Richmond as their first nonprofit for 2018 to donate 15 percent of sales from 5-8pm for that day.

Castleburg Brewing will release its Knight’s Watch, a Chocolate Mint Stout this Saturday. The beer is a home-brew collab with Mike Crowley,
