The Capital Ale House National Beer Expo has landed in Richmond, featuring craft beers from all over the country, the event lasts from July 15-20 and is a beer enthusiasts wet dream.

Created by Variant Events, a wine and craft brewing company, the National Beer Expo will host over two dozen events throughout the week happening in and around Richmond. “It’s all about discovery — trying new beers you’ve never tried before,” Alex Papajohn, founder of Variant Events and executive director of the expo, told the TD.

Over the six days of the event, attendees will have the opportunity to try limited release beers as well as special food pairings by local Richmond chefs.

The first event starts Tuesday at MeKong, 6004 West Broad Street, with the Ultimate Kickoff Party. Featuring over 40 beers and appetizers for guests as well as a special tour of the Answer BrewPub next door.

On Wednesday the Jefferson Hotel will host the CollaBEERate, featuring five brand new beers. CollaBEERate will bring together four talented chefs: Patrick Ehemann and Sara Ayyash of T.J.’s at The Jefferson, Joe Sparatta of Heritage and Lee Gregory of The Roosevelt.

Each chef will prepare a course for the event that will be paired with a specially released beer.

The Walk-Around Grand Tasting, the main event hosted by Capital Ale House on Saturday, will feature over 150 craft beers for guests to try. Followed by an after party at the Capital Ale House downtown location.

Other food and beer pairing events include CRAFT, with food from four featured chefs and nearly two dozen beers (plus wine, cider and prosecco) at the Virginia War Memorial; culinary walking tours of downtown Richmond; craft beer doughnuts at Sugar Shack; and a
taco throwdown.

Throughout the week Capital Ale House will be featuring deals at all of their locations to celebrate the event according to Matt Simmons, General Manager of Capital Ale House.
Restaurants hosting other beer expo events include Southern Railway Taphouse, On the Rox, Saison, Toast and Estilo.

Tickets to each event can be purchased individually through the National Beer Expo website with discounts for tickets purchased in advance.
