Grab Your Passport! Vegan Restaurant Week Ends This Weekend

We know, we are late on this, but better late than never? This is the last weekend for Richmond’s Vegan Restaurant Week, also known as V72x2, that runs through Sunday, Jan. 28. This plant-powered event, organized by Richmond Vegan Action, brings together local restaurants to showcase unique and new vegan options while raising funds for Matchbox Mutual Aid this year.

Here’s a rundown of all the participating restaurants and their mouthwatering offerings:

821 Cafe

  • Vegan Chicken Curry Wrap: Featuring vegan fried chicken, veggie yellow curry, rice, cucumber salad, and peanuts wrapped in a spinach tortilla.
  • Vegan Club Sandwich: Seitan bacon, pastrami-marinated baked tofu, avocado, smoked vegan provolone, lettuce, tomato, and vegan mayo.
  • Black Bean Sweet Potato & (V) Chorizo Tacos: Vegan queso fresco, pico, avocado crema with a side of salsa verde.
  • Vegan Chicken & Waffles: Gochujang-glazed vegan fried chicken atop a kimchi corn waffle with cucumber salad and sriracha aioli.
  • Vegan Brunswick Stew

And Dim Sum

  • Tofu Soup Dumpling: Three dumplings with tofu, carrot, cabbage, ginger, and garlic in a scallion chive wrapper. Served with sweet and spicy dipping sauce.
  • Spicy Mushroom Noodle Soup: With veggie broth, white miso, beech mushrooms, watermelon radish, white corn, black rice noodle, chili crisp, and cilantro chive oil.
  • Butternut Squash Stir Fry: Featuring butternut squash, rainbow carrot, purple cabbage, watermelon radish, sugar snap peas, onion, bell pepper, purple sweet potato noodle, and vegan oyster sauce.
  • Veggie Spring Roll: Purple cabbage, mushroom medley, onions, and carrots with a side of duck sauce.

Hot for Pizza

  • “Down Pad” Pad Thai Vegan Pizza: Thai peanut butter base topped with (hoisin) marinated tofu, bok choy, red onion, and red bell pepper. Finished with sesame seeds, spicy pickled carrot and radishes, bok choy leaf & hoisin drizzle. Served with lime, cilantro and bean sprouts on the side.
