Tapped: Lickinghole Creek’s Something Better IPA, Fine Creek’s Deliberator Dobbelbock, & Legend’s Fairy Crosses

What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts’ desire.

If you missed last week’s beer news, you can check those out here. Our cup is overflowing with news this week from releases to events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

Hardywood will release its Tropic Like Its Hot Sour Ale with Butterfly Pea Flowers, Passionfruit, & Pineapple in cans this Friday. This tropically tart brew is a collab with Ardent Craft Ales and Center of the Universe Brewing.

And on Sunday, Hardywood will host its 3rd Annual Love on Tap event, a benefit for Virginia Pride. The event will feature live music, fabulous drag performances, local LGBTQ owned and operated businesses and organizations, delicious food trucks, and more! A portion of the sales from this event will benefit Virginia Pride. The above beer, Tropic Like ts Hot, will be tapped there, and will be served at this year’s PrideFest on Brown’s Island in September.

Encore Weekend this Saturday for Lickinghole Creek’s NEIPA, ‘Something Better’. The brew is the newest addition to the 16 oz can Summer Series at the Goochland brewery.

Castleburg Brewery will celebrate Pride Day this Sunday with a huge throwdown featuring live music, food, drag performances, and of course, beer. Be sure to wear your rainbow attire and bring CASH to make a donation to Friends of Side by Side. The brewery will be matching your donations dollar-for-dollar up to $400.00.

We’ve got a triple release from Powhatan’s Fine Creek Brewing Co. this weekend. First up, Tractors Gone Wild, a combo of leftover Tractor Juice with extra Citra hops and their house Brett Saison culture. The refermentation with Brett has created awesome notes of Pineapple to compliment the fruity base beer.  Lawn Tractor Belgian Farmhouse Session IPA, a session version of our Tractor Juice BDIPA will on be pouring in the taproom. Deliberator Doppelbock, a rich malty German-style beer will also be available, so its definitely a pick your poison this weekend at the brewery!

Legend’s Fairy Crosses Saison is refreshingly simple, light in body and dry in finish. Spicy and earthy yeast tones are accompanied by a subtle raspberry tartness for this brew to cool you down on these hot summer day. Go sit out on their Manchester patio and sip a few!

Glen Allen’s Intermission Beer Company will release its Abbey Ale – a Belgian Singel this Friday. The 5.5% classic Belgian has light fruity notes and would be another perfect brew for outside drinking.

Gravitational Wave DIPA returns to Final Gravity Brewing Co. this Friday.  This 100% Mosaic DIPA has been gone since September but as the high temps move in, so does Gravitational Wave. Get some out at the Lakeside brewery before it’s gone!

Wild Honey Cyser, an apple honey wine will make its debut at Blue Bee Cider on Friday. The cyser is a collaboration with Garden Grove Brewing & Urban Winery. This unique mead/cider hybrid features wildflower and clover honey blended with Winesap and Arkansas Black apple juice for fermentation

Canon & Draw Brewing Company will have its first can release on Friday. It’s a mystery, so be sure to stop into the Fan brewery on West Main Street to find out!

Three Notch’d RVA Collab House returns this week with a new brew. This time around, its Boom Gose the Dynamite, a Watermelon Gose that’s tart, but sure to quench your thirst. Stick around for trivia!

Isley Brewing’s got three new infusions for you this week! Pomegranate Belgian White Ale, Fastidious Father Banana Peanut Butter Porter, and Coffee Porter will be pouring in the taproom. If none of those sound appealing, I don’t know how to help you. I think I’m going for all three!

It’s Third Thursday at The Veil Brewing Co., which means a portion of beer sales go to a new local charity! This time, it’s Family Lifeline, partner with individuals and families at critical points in their lives to strengthen overall well-being by delivering intensive home-based services, along with working with adults with disabilities. 15% of sales will go towards the organization from 5p-8pm. Kudzu RVA serving Ramen from 4p until gone.

Champion Brewing RVA will have a very limited amount of Face Melter, a gose featuring mango and apricot that is coming down from their Cville location. Get it before it’s gone!
