Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the newest member of RVA’s thriving/exploding craft-beer scene: Ardent Craft Ales.

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the newest member of RVA’s thriving/exploding craft-beer scene: Ardent Craft Ales.

What started in a local garage as a brewing co-op has since become a full-fledged brew house. They hope to “produce and celebrate exceptional and ambitious beers with the ever-growing craft beer community.”

And you can find out if they’ll fulfill these hopes later today when they open their doors to the public at 4 PM at 3200 W. Leigh Street.

Richard Hayes over at RVANews had a chance to sample some of Ardent’s brews earlier this week, his thoughts on are below:

In my party we were split on our favorites. I liked the Saison which just screamed to me sitting on the deck summer beer and my companion favored the limited release Honey Ginger. The Honey Ginger after that first little shock to the taste buds settles into a nice smooth experience. The IPA, which was everything that an IPA should be was also available last night and was no slouch either, the party next to us give it their “best of” rating.

And no, it’s not made from oranges.. The first time I encountered orange wine (or skin contact white wine), I was wowed by the color and it’s presentation. It’s gorgeous. This beautiful, amber-hued liquid danced around the edges of my swirling wine glass. I gave it a...
