Stone Brewing announced Friday that its co-founder and CEO Greg Koch would be transitioning from CEO to Executive Chairman. According to a press release on the California-based brewery’s website, Koch will “focus on long-term and higher-level strategic planning for the company.”
The release went on to say that Koch, who served as CEO for the past 19 years and founded the company alongside Steve Wagner in 1996, will continue to work on development of the brewery’s Berlin location and oversee the company’s expansion to Richmond which is slated to happen early next year.
“This is a natural progression once companies reach our size and complexity,” explains Koch in the release. “I see this as an opportunity to focus on future direction and projects for Stone Brewing. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who can contribute to our executive team and understands our vision for craft beer.”
There is no set timeframe or expected hire date for the new CEO. Anyone in Richmond looking to step up to the plate?
