What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly beer column.

We’ve brewed up quite a bit of news so all you beer thirsty folks can be in the know about recent news and actually have something fun to do with your weekend other than sitting on the couch stuffing your face with Doritos and binging on Netflix.

We’re just getting into Fall and breweries are already churning out seasonal autumn-inspired brews. But we love it don’t we!? Except for the pumpkin spice craze I cannot and will not jump on board with that. If any brewery comes out with a pumpkin spice coffee-inspired beer I will protest. Regular pumpkin is okay though! Now we’ve got a ton of cool beer releases and other events going on in RVA so hold to your mugs because we’re ready to tap this thing!.

We’ve got some tasty brews for you to go try this weekend, but first check out what you missed last week!

If you are a true Richmonder, then you at the Folk Festival all weekend long! The yearly fest draws thousands for days of all forms of music, entertainment, food and craft beer. They had a whole tent dedicated to the beverage Tapped fans love the most!

Lickinghole Creek in Goochland celebrated two years of serving up delicious brews in Goochland over the weekend. They released some chocolately goodness as well as a Blueberry brew. Check out the fun:

Now on to this week’s news:

Hope you haven’t completely put away you lederhosen and dirndl because Richmond is still celebrating Oktoberfest this Saturday Oct. 17 at the Richmond Raceway! They’re in their 47th year and as always they will have German fare, music, and lots of craft beer from Loveland. This year’s beers are Warsteiner Dunkel, Pilsner, and Oktoberfest.

Lickinghole Creek will release Pumpkin Ain’t Easy this Saturday. made with over 700 pounds of sugar pumpkins that they grew on their Goochland farm! It’s a Belgian-Style Ale.

Head to Pochantas State Park this Saturday for the Virginia Hops and Harvest Fest. The festival will feature beers from 20 VA breweries including Ardent, Devild Backbone, Center of the Universe, Old Bust Head Brewing and others Live music from The Trongone Band and THe Weight, a tribute group to The Band. $12.50 adv/$15 door. full beer pours are $6. 12 pm. Strangeways will release its Oak Barrel Aged Gingerbread Gourd of Thunder Imperial this Saturday. Its the third and final beer in the brewery’s limited series.

Center of the Universe is throwing down this Sunday Oct. 18 with their 4th Annual Happy Camper Fest. It’s a dog friendly day event with fun for kids and benefits the Richmond Animal League. Awesome! There will be live jams from four bands and of course their delicious brews.

Garden Grove in Carytown has a couple delicious brews for you to go try out! They just released “Three Little Figs” a dark Abbey ale with locally grown figs. The brewery also just released “Hunt For Red Oktoberfest” and “The Spice Trade Batch #2” a Belgian Strong Golden Rye that’s an even spicier rendition of their Golden Rye!

The biggest news from Garden Grove is the beer dinner coming up on Nov. 2! They’ve brought in the help of Richmond chef Lee Gregory of the Roosevelt to serve up a five course dinner along with five of their delicious brews. Tickets are going fast so make sure to grab yours here. $38.
