We’ve brewed up quite a bit of news so all you beer thirsty folks can be in the know about recent news and actually have something fun to do with your weekend other than sitting on the couch stuffing your face with Doritos and binging on Netflix.
Fall is in full swing so we’re seeing lots of pumpkin, maple, different spices, apples, Oktoberfests and other autumn brews from the breweries! Now hold on to your mugs because we’re ready to tap this thing! But first check out what you missed last week:
Center of the Universe Brewing in Ashland turned three!
The first HOPS in the Park Festival, a craft beer, mead, and cider fest to celebrate VA farmers was held in Chesterfield County over the weekend. A ton of local breweries and meaderies representing with some tasty beverages! Check out the video here:

Now onto this week’s booze news:
If you haven’t heard we are right in the middle of Virginia Cider Week! Yes, I know not technically beer, but its fall and that crisp, apple flavor is just as delicious espeically on these cold nights. The state has dedicated an entire week to celebrating hard cider and there are plenty of events you can attend to sip on the good stuff.

The link above will take you to the official website where you can get the lowdown on all things cider for the rest of the week throughout VA so I’ll just highlight some events around town that you should go check out!
Blue Bee Cider here in Richmond is going all out with events through this Sunday. They are hostng a bunch of tap takeovers and tastings around town so check out the link for where to go!

Tonight check out RVA Mag’s own Cider celebration with Potter’s Cider and The Answer. There’s a lip sync contest and prize!
This is one of my favorites. There will Blue Bee Cider flights and cake pairings at Shyndigz tomorrow Nov. 19. Cake and cider. What could be better?
On Sunday, Blue Bee Cider will host a dinner at Camden’d Dogtown Market at 6:30 pm.

Ardent is hosting their own Friendsgiving with food from a bunch of local restaurants on Thursday, Nov. 19. Bring five canned goods to donate to Feed More and you can be dining with the people of Ardent eating some delicious food and enjoying their awesome beers.
Legend released its delicious-looking Chocolate Porter earlier this week. Go by the brewery to satisfy that sweet tooth!
Triple Crossing will release its Black Dolphin, a Russian Imperial Stout this Sat. Nov. 21. Named after Russia’s infamous maximum security prison, this deep, rich imperial stout was brewed with serious amounts of roasted barley and dark brown sugar.

Hardywood will release Goldrush,a saison aged for 6 months in white wine barrels this Sat. Nov 21. The saison was refermented in freshly dumped petit Manseng wine barrels with unpasteurized Goldrush apple cider, pressed at Blue Bee Cider!! The band Goldrush will also be playing at the brewery so head on down there to check out some awesome tunes and try the beer!
Midnight Brewery will re-release its Christmas Ale Sat. Nov. 21. ‘Tis the season! Well, almost, but its beer so who cares?
Strangeways will release its Tirami’zu Brew Rum Barrel Aged Porter this Sat. Nov. 21. This really looks like a tasty one. The brewery collaborated with the fine people that own Mamma ‘Zu, Edo’s squid, Dinamo & 8 1/2, to take their tiramisu and make it into a a brew. This porter underwent months of rum barrel aging with cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and coffee from local roaster Black Hand. YUM!
