What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?!

What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly beer column where you can find all your craft beer events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little heart desires.

So apparently there’s a blizzard coming this weekend and yes you need your milk, bread, and eggs. But what’s the other essential item needed to get you through the days and nights spent pent up in the house? Beer, of course.

Now snow might be on the way, but that doesn’t mean breweries are closing their downs. Many are keeping the party going this weekend. But before we get into this week’s news, let’s check out what you missed last week:

Lickinghole Creek released its Heir Apparent brew last Saturday. The Mexican-Spiced Imperial Stout is brewed with Mexican peppers of course, and cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa to satisfy your tastebuds.

Ardent Craft Ales released its Earl Grey Brown Ale, a collaboration with Champion Brewery and Potter’s Cider. They revealed the brew at Fat Dragon and the new Boulevard Burgers and Brews joint last week.

Now hold on to your mug’s because we’re about to tap this thing:

Strangeways Brewing will release its Hinterlander Barleywine this Sat. Jan 23. This barleywine, aged a solid year in oak barrels with Black Mission figs. 11%.

On Saturday, Triple Crossing will release its Green Dreams Double IPA. Limited bottle release available 1/23. Also available on draft and in growlers.

Isley is bringing back their beer infusions starting with the “King” Peanut Butter Banana Porter this Friday.

Isley Brewing will also release Wolfman’s Other Brother this Saturday. The IPA is light bodied in body and brewed to feature Australian Motueka. The OTHER Brother has a big, juicy hop flavor with a well balanced bitterness and has a hop flavor and aroma that includes lemon, lime, tangerine, and tropical fruit. 6.6%

Hardywood will release its Bourbon Barrel Sidamo this Sat. Jan. 23. Imperial Stout aged 12 weeks in bourbon barrels and conditioned on custom roasted Sidamo coffee from Lamplighter Roasting Company, Bourbon Sidamo showcases the signature flavors of whiskey, roasted malt and Ethiopian coffee.
