What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly beer column.

We’ve brewed up quite a bit of news so all you beer thirsty folks can be in the know about recent news and actually have something fun to do with your weekend other than sitting on the couch stuffing your face with Doritos and binging on Netflix.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and hope you’ve left room between the gravy and all that turkey for some beer! Now hold on to your mugs because we’re ready to tap this thing! But first check out what you missed last week:

Isley Brewing released its Drunken Uncle hard root beer.

Hardywood brewed a beer in support of the FeedMore organization called Give Bock.

Now on to this week’s booze news!

Center of the Universe will release Travesty, a rum barrel aged imperial milk stout tomorrow, Dec. 5. Also, don’t forget to wear your Fugly Sweater, as the brewery host its 2nd Annual Fugly Sweater party the same day.

Many breweries including Isley, Center of the Universe, Blue Bee Cider, and Black Heath Meadery will celebrate the end of prohibition tonight Dec. 4 at James River Cellars. Check out what they’ll be serving here.

Lovers of Gingerbread Stout rejoice! Hardywood is back with its most beloved bre, but with a twist this time. Its taken its beloved imperial milk stout which is brewed with vanilla beans, cinnamon, fresh baby ginger and Bearer Farms wildflower honey and then matured it in Virginia bourbon barrels leaving you with a Bourbon Gingerbread Stout. Yum! Get yours this Sat. Dec. 5.

Garden Grove has just released some good brews you should go check out incluidng their “Pink Panther” Sparkler and Virginia Pine Pale Ale, brewed entirely with hops grown at Va’s Rocky Knoll Hop Farm. Tonight the Carytown brewery will release its Oatmeal Stout.

Strangeways Brewing
is hitting you with two beer releases this Saturday! Ape Armageddon Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout and Ape Armageddon Mexican Tequila Barrel Aged Imperial Stout are up and they both sound delicious! 11% ABV.
