What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly beer column.

We’ve brewed up quite a bit of news so all you beer thirsty folks can be in the know about recent news and actually have something fun to do with your weekend other than sitting on the couch stuffing your face with Doritos and binging on Netflix.

We’re just getting into Fall and brewries are already churning out seasonal autumn-inspired brews. But we love it don’t we!? Except for the pumpkin spice craze I cannot and will not jump on board with that. If any brewery comes out with a pumpkin spice coffee-inspired beer I will protest. Regular pumpkin is okay though! Now we’ve got a ton of cool beer releases and other events going on in RVA so hold to your mugs because we’re ready to tap this thing!.

Before we get into your new booze news, let’s recap what you missed. RVA Mag caught up with Carytown Brewery Garden Grove recently so check out our profile here. They have some delicious brews on tap including a couple wine sparklers. Go taste their newest Life and Death brews…if you dare!

Isley Brewing celebrated its first Fall Fest last weekend! Beer, games and fun! Check it out!

Now on to the this weekend’s news!

Hardywood will release its Rum Pumpkin this weekend. The brew which the brewery will release in 750 ml bottles, combines the flavors and aromas of autumn with blackstrap molasses laced finish aged in Caribbean dark rum barrels. Could be one to have over tour Thanksgiving feast! ABV 10.5% Live music from the Sleepwalkers and others at 5 pm!

Happy 2nd Anniversary to Lickinghole Creek! The brewery has been up and running on its farm in Goochland for two years and they are celebrating big this Saturday! LCCB is going to have their largest and most prolific bottle release party in their two year history. YES.

Brace thyselves for four (yup, that’s right four) brand new LCCB beers. Head spinning already! Check them out: “The Source”,a Blueberry IPA which was a Thee Notch’d & LCCB Collaboration.

“Chocolate Decadence”, an Imperial Chocolate Stout, 11.5% ABV. Coffee Decadence, an Imperial Chocolate Stout, 11.5% and finally “Raspberry & Coffee Decadence”, an Imperial Chocolate Stout. 11.5% LCCB will be selling the last three in a pack so get it while you can! Oct 3. from 12 to 9 pm. More details here.

Garden Grove released Damson in Distress today. The brew is a slightly tart, lightly salted wheat ale brewed with locally grown Damson Plums. 3.8% ABV

Isley Brewing is collaborating with the Ladies of Laber for a special brew this weekend. The Scott’s Addition brewery has brewed up Mint Chocolate Milk Stout so go taste it this Saturday.

The Oak Barrel Aged Pecan Gourd of Thunder, an imperial pumpkin porter, arrives at Strangeways Brewing this Saturday. Go taste that it sounds awesome!

The brewery is also hosting a Celtic Cans Fall Festival to gear up for the cold weather on Sun. Oct. 4.

Join St. Andrews Legion Pipes & Drums and many special guests as Strangeways welcomes the fall and all of the sweater-wearing joy that comes with it. Grab your friends, grab a few cans to donate, and head our way for a fun-filled day of bands, beer, drinking and dancing. The free event is to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank.

Love BBQ? love beer? love bands? Of course you do. So luckily for you, Richmond has combined all three into a festival this Saturday. “Hogtober” will kick off Oct 3 in Libby Hill Park at noon and last until 7 pm. Barbecue legends Alamo BBQ, Buz & Ned’s Barbecue, the Halligan Bar and Grill, Jadeans Smokin Six, & Inner City Blues home of Carolina BBQ. Beers by Brown Distributing-Richmond. Benefits the Church Hill Association.

Celebrate Oktoberfest with Legends’ tasty brew that they have available right now!

Seven Hills Brewing is now up and running in Shockoe Bottom. The brewpub opened earlier this month and is now pouring brews! Go check it out and look for a feature of them on our site soon!
