What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts desire.

Our cup is overflowing with news this week, but first head over here to check out what awesome brews were released in Richmond last weekend.

We’ve got new releases, and other cool events for VA Craft Beer Month going on so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

August is Virginia Craft Beer Month so be sure to check Tapped every week for the rundown on events in RVA and the rest of the state! And be on the lookout for a separate post on big events related to VA Craft Beer Month soon! Now on to this week’s Tapped.

Garden Grove’s Ginger Ale returns this week! Loads of fresh ginger, locally grown lemongrass and sweet orange peel make a perfect summer retreat from the rva heat.

They are also turning their game Room into a full body Virtual Reality experience this weekend featuring the new HTC Vive. It’s free and you can sign up on site.

Hardywood is bringing back their Watermelon Gose to quinch our thirsts this Friday, Aug. 5. This beer is a German-style gose brewed with coriander and salt. The addition of local watermelons leaves this refreshing and tart ale bursting with flavor.

Steam Bell Beer Works is continuing their randall series this Thursday the Patchronce, a light bodied Belgian brewed with Blue Bee Cider’s blackberries and raspberries, but they will be adding some rosemary to the mix.

On Saturday, the Chesterfield brewery will also be releasing their bourbon barrel aged tiramisu stout.

On Sunday, in celebration of Virginia Craft Beer Month, Steam Bell will release Rabbit Eye, a 5.2% light bodied and slightly spiced saison fermented with fresh Virginia blueberries and fresh basil. Boka Tako Truck will be onsite serving food all day!

Join Isley Brewing this Thursday at Casa Del Barco for the ‘Our Story’ series. Meet and greet the Isley crew from 5pm-7:30pm while enjoying 4 refreshing Isley brews! Beer Line Up:

-Blueberry Plain Jane Belgian White Ale
-Choosy Mother Peanut Butter Porter
-Ruby Red Slippers Grapefruit Session Pale Ale
-Root Of All Evil Ginger Golden Ale

Stone Brewing recently released their first RVA brewed beers. The first to be brewed was their Stone IPA – Virginia Brewery Prototype, Virginia’s take on the classic Stone IPA Tours of the Williamsburg Avenue facility started on Aug. 1st so check out their facebook page for updates.

Gose Fest is going down at Center of the Universe this Saturday. The Ashland brewery will release their first full production sour, “There Gose Summer” a tart gose brewed with sea salt and coriander. They also made five variants: Granny Smith Apple, Peach Brandy and Nectarine, Bloody Mary, Pickle, Peach and Lemon. Variations will only be available in Gose Fest Flights. Intergalatic tacos and live music will be onsite! 1pm to 10pm.

On Sunday, the brewery will also host a Bloody Beer Bingo Brunch.
The brewery has teamed up with Richmond’s Texas Beach Bloody Mary Mix and Intergalactic Tacos to bring you BLOODY BEER BINGO BRUNCH! Their whole beer lineup will be available, but if you would like to get adventurous, Bloody Beers made with Texas Beach Bloody Mary Mix are available. Intergalactic Tacos will be available a la carte brunch and tacos available.

With the purchase of every beer you will get a bingo card, which will be played at the top of every hour for great prizes!

This Saturday, Ardent will release its Tokaj Barrel Aged Saison. The brewery took a base Saison and barrel aged it in the Tokaj wine barrels. The brew is dry, with a slight sweetness and hints of yellow raisin.

Center of the Universe and Ardent Craft Ales have also teamed up with OutRVA and Virginia Pride to create two beers for the upcoming Pride Month and Pridefest on Brown’s Island, which celebrates the LGBTQ community in September. Ardent Craft Ales has brewed up “Georgie,” a mixed berry pale ale and COTU created “Porgie,” a Chocolate Pudding Porter. You will be able to purchase the beers at the festival and particpating local restaurants.

Lickinghole Creek will bring back their popular La Calavera Catrina this Saturday. The brew is a Catrina Three Chopt Tripel aged in Mexican Tequila Barrels and Lime Zest clocking in at 11.3%
