By now you definitely should know what’s up with RVA indie supergroup Avers. After all, we’ve explained it all to you before! But here’s a quick refresher: members of The Head And The Heart, Hypercolor, Mason Brothers, Farm Vegas, and The Trillions (among others) getting together to make some psychedelic noise away from their more folk/pop-inclined main gigs.
We’ve been hearing isolated tracks from them for a while, and the word has been that there was a full-length LP recorded pretty much as soon as the band came into existence. But when we’d all get to experience the album in question was left a mystery.
Until now! We’ve just received word that Avers’ debut full-length, Empty Light, comes out tomorrow, April 22, in digital form. We can’t give you a link now, because it’s not there yet, but the album should be up on iTunes, CDBaby, and anywhere else fine mp3s are sold. To get you through the last 18 or so hours until you can get your fix in full, we’ve got a video trailer for the album to share with you. It’s only 50 or so seconds long, and only about half of it shows you anything other than the details we’ve already shared with you, but it’s still worth watching to see guitarist Adrian Olsen rock out, as is his wont, and to hear a brief snippet of an as-yet-unreleased new song, featuring a wild guitar solo and a four-letter word (whee!). Check it out below:
Avers was just announced as one of the bands on the lineup for this year’s Hopscotch Festival, taking place in Raleigh, NC September 4-6; for more info and to buy tickets, go to hopscotchmusicfest.com. Avers was also just awarded Band Of The Month by Washington DC’s The Deli Magazine–read their interview with the band here. Finally, if you want to hear some full songs from Avers before Empty Light drops tomorrow, stream the title track and “White Horses,” both of which have been kicking around the internet for a few months, below.
