Daily Fix: Empire Of The Sun – Standing On The Shore

by | Dec 18, 2009 | MUSIC

“Standing On The Shore” is the third single off of Empire of the Sun’s album Walking On A Dream.

The Australian duo formed in 2007 and released their debut album in October of 2008. The tracks are super catchy electro-pop that will remind you of Prince, Ultravox and Bowie. More interesting is the group’s visual style. I perceive it as a weird mix of glam and abstract performance art. All their videos to date are amazing to look at as they are filled with vibrant colors, elaborate costumes and beautiful locations. The band consists of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore. Both with other music projects as well. Steele has the indie-pop band The Sleepy Jackson and Littlemore is active in another superb electric duo Pnau. The bands other hit singles include “We Are The People” and the title track “Walking On A Dream.” Check out the official website at walkingonadream.com.

The Vinyl Crypt of Scott’s Addition: Wax Moon’s Strange Magic

Off of Broad Street, deep in Scott’s Addition between warehouses and alleyways, is a black hole in the wall filled with music, vintage VHS, and (perhaps most importantly) Richmond’s preeminent collection of horror-themed pinball machines. I came to Wax Moon on a cool...
