This Saturday night, Richmond’s quite lucky to host electronic heavyweight STRFKR at The National in what is bound to be an unbelievable night of man

This Saturday night, Richmond’s quite lucky to host electronic heavyweight STRFKR at The National in what is bound to be an unbelievable night of manic music, wild dancing, and infectious energy. We at RVA Magazine have been pretty excited about this show for a while now and we’ve got something special in store for you all today that might just raise the anticipation levels even higher for this Saturday’s show.

STRFKR was gracious enough to put together an exclusive, 14 song playlist for us that should serve as the perfect introduction into the type of diverse and delectable music you can witness live in person this Saturday. The playlist is full of songs for any mood from bands you’ll instantly recognize to groups you’ll instantly fall in love with. STRFKR’s celebrated musical inspirations like New Order and Bauhaus make appearances as well as their respected contemporaries like VOWWS and Charlie Hilton. Even their current tour mates, Com Truise and Fake Drugs, pop up on the mix making it a good taste of things to come on Saturday night when STRFKR isn’t bringing the house down. It’s not all electronic based music either as the Portland group has even selected some gritty rock and roll for you all in the form of Toronto’s DILLY DALLY, a band whose inclusion speaks volumes to the diversity of these selections.

This mix might just be more unexpected and surprising than the group’s own records, which is definitely saying something when considering the quality of their self-titled 2008 record and 2012’s Jupiter. With a runtime slightly under an hour, it’s a perfect soundtrack to your pre-concert ritual on Saturday night or maybe it might just get you through the funk of the remaining two work days this abysmal week has left for us in town.

Whatever the case, give the playlist below a try and make sure to head on out to see STRFKR (alongside Com Truise and Fake Drugs) this Saturday night at The National. Just like this playlist below, we know you won’t be disappointed.

STRFKR plays The National this Saturday night alongside Com Truise and Fake Drugs. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show with the doors opening at 7 PM. For more information on the show and where to buy tickets, click here.
