Kelli Strawbridge drops funky new solo track in “Genuine Animal”

by | May 9, 2017 | FUNK & JAZZ

Local funk-king Kelli Strawbridge is back with a new synthy single and its bound to get your feet moving as the weather gets warmer.

Strawbridge said he recorded “Genuine Animal” last year in his home studio and it was really more of a vehicle for a new vocal processor he’d just purchased.

“It had autotune on it [and] it’s ridiculous how much fun it is,” he said.

The track aims to be an ode to the late 70s, early 80s sound that has gained traction recently and it achieves that goal with the help of some fancy slide synth solos. It was mixed & mastered by Bryan Walthall but produced by Strawbirdge himself.

And fear not fans of KINGS, Strawbridge’s popular funk group; he said he’s just dropping this track for funsies until the next big KINGS release.
