90’s band The Dambuilders had a number of successes and impacts – but it seems the biggest impact they made was on PJ Sykes of RVA’s own Hoax Hunters.

There’s a pretty neat story in this cover of “Smooth Control” in the video below. Watch Sykes and friends explain how the cover, featuring Grammy Nominated local songwriter Anousheh and Marty Key (Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Teargas Rock), came to be. You’ll also learn a bit more about Hoax Hunters as a Richmond band.

Hoax Hunters have successfully re-crafted a 90’s classic in this cover; you can really feel the flannel drip off this bad boy.
