Killswitch Engage have been one of the most highly regarded bands in the metalcore genre for over a decade now. Since their 2004 album, The End Of Heartache, went gold and received a Grammy nomination, the group has been at the forefront of the metalcore scene, playing huge festivals, soundtracking video games, and even having one of their songs be used as entrance music by WWE wrestler CM Punk.

In 2012, after recording three albums with singer Howard Jones, they reunited with original vocalist Jesse Leach for their sixth album, Disarm The Descent. The album, released last year, proved that after 15 years, Killswitch Engage are still going strong with their signature blend of blazing metal riffs, hardcore energy, and emo-influenced melodies. Lead single “In Due Time” was nominated for a Grammy (it lost to Black Sabbath, which, understandable)–check it out below:

Now Killswitch Engage are back on the road, and their current tour will bring them to The Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville a week from today, on Tuesday, July 22. They’re in some pretty excellent company, too–they’ll be joined at the Jefferson by Minnesota prog-metal (do these guys count as “djent”? I still don’t get that term) band After The Burial, Cleveland metallic hardcore legends Ringworm, and Pittsburgh heavy-hardcore dudes Code Orange (who are apparently no longer “Kids”). This is an extremely solid lineup, and whether you’re a metalhead, a hardcore kid, or somewhere in that inbetween place that the name “metalcore” was coined to describe, you’ll have a blast at the Jefferson next Tuesday night. So make sure you’re there!
