September is almost over which means it will be October and I always wish that month will go by fast so I can get to my favorite part: Halloween.

September is almost over which means it will be October and I always wish that month will go by fast so I can get to my favorite part: Halloween.

Getting into funky costumes, the candy, wreaking havoc around Richmond, it’s just one of the best things. Its also when some prett cool music comes out of RVA. Nightmare on Grace Street, a music compilation featuring Virginia bands performing songs written specifically for the Halloween season, released their first cassette last year and now the group is back with a follow up.

The sequel to last year’s Nightmare on Grace Street Vol. 1 will be available at local music stores and online in early October.

Some of the bands contributing songs include Clair Morgan, No BS! Brass Band, The Snowy Owls, Black Liquid, Lightfields and more.

Mark Golden, who initially started the project, and performs in The Green Hearts, Shangri-Lords, and Red Hot Lava Men, said the inspiration came from a Halloween compilation CD that was done years ago in Richmond. Last year’s release show took place at Strange Matter Nov. 1 and featured local bands such as The Diamond Center, Hot Dolphin and White Laces.

The release show and tape will soon follow next month so stay tuned for more on the show and inevitably good tunage. In the meantime, to hold you over, check out Nightmare on Grace Steet Vol. 1 below:
