Photos | J. Roddy Walston at Canal Club by Joey Wharton

by | Dec 23, 2024 | ROCK & INDIE

Richmond’s rock faithful packed into the Canal Club for what felt more like a ritual than a concert. J. Roddy Walston, a hometown legend with the kind of raw, unpolished energy that doesn’t just play to a crowd but grabs it by the throat, hit the stage like a force of nature for his annual Xmas To The Bone show. Flanked by local guitar gods Charlie Glenn and Michael York, and driving it all forward with a thunderous new drummer, the night was a sweaty, glorious mess of originals and deep cuts from the J. Roddy Walston & The Business days.

Holiday madness hung in the air, and photographer Joey Wharton was there to bottle the chaos.
