There is a new generation of hip hop kids in Richmond and we are paying attention. Crawling through cornfields, creeping down Broad Street, roaming the back alleys of the Fan, these young bloods are creating new sounds and videos that matter. T.R.E., “On A Mission”

“On A Mission” takes you through the day in the life of T.R.E., a young man dealing with reality and the everyday struggle as an artist trying to make it in this world. No flashy stuff here–we see him in the barber chair, in an abandoned location, and even with a lady friend on the back seat as he rides a bicycle, all the while rhyming in every scene over a mellow instrumental. Teleport Team, “Smokey Like Robinson”

There is so much good hip hop being produced in the RVA area these days. It’s tough to even keep track of it all. Teleport Team make it even more complicated by moving back and forth between RVA and the Hampton Roads area–but every time they show up on my radar, I’m reminded all over again of the talent they’re bringing to their work.
