Win Tickets to see Modern Baseball at The Broadberry!

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, they’re coming back! Modern Baseball, the adorable crew of pop-punkers I called heirs apparent to the Descendents in an only-somewhat-bombastic writeup for their last appearance within the Richmond city limits, will be hitting the stage at The Broadberry in a few weeks, and your pals at RVA Mag want to send you to the show for free!

The band released their second album, You’re Gonna Miss It All, earlier this year, which really took things to the next level for them and proved that their debut wasn’t just a flash in the pan. The heartfelt yet slightly nerdy vocals from dueling singers Brendan Lukens and Jake Ewald bring a Weakerthans-reminiscent touch to the band’s acoustic-tinged poppy punk sound, making Modern Baseball the perfect soundtrack to angsty post-teenage winter nights. See the video for “Your Graduation” for proof:

Hopefully it won’t be snowing on December 10 when you’re waiting in line outside the Broadberry for this show to start, but even if it is, you’re well advised to stick around, because this show won’t just feature Modern Baseball but a whole package tour of modern pop-punk awesomeness. Chicago’s Knuckle Puck will be in the direct support role, rocking out with their vaguely post-hardcore take on the whole pop-punk thing (think a slightly screamier State Champs, maybe). Then there’s also Philly’s own Cayetana, who will satisfy your craving for a female-fronted blend of the indie rock, alt-country, and punk rock genres. A surprising combination, but it works. New York’s Crying and Boston’s Somos will round out the lineup, and you’re going to want to see it all!
