Run The Jewels, the union of Brooklyn rapper-producer El-P and Atlanta emcee Killer Mike, has only been together since 2012, but in that brief time, they’ve taken the hip hop scene by storm. Initially coming together to bring the world R.A.P. Music, the 2012 Killer Mike album produced entirely by El-P, Run The Jewels officially became a collaborative project with the release of their 2013 self-titled album, on which the two members traded strong verses over top-quality beats laid down by El-P.

They’ve returned with another helping of great music this year, with Run The Jewels 2 scheduled for release on Monday, October 27. And less than a week later, on Sunday November 2, SHHO will present Run The Jewels at Charlottesville’s Jefferson Theater, where they’ll lay down both instant classics from their first LP and a heaping helping of brand new tuns from RTJ2 for your listening pleasure. Advance single “Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)” is a particularly hard-hitting track, and features a guest verse from none other than Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against The Machine. Listen to it right now:

And once you’ve listened, start preparing for the live onslaught, because we’re just sure you’ll want to be at the Jefferson Theater to see El-P and Killer Mike tear it up live and in person. They’ve proven their ability to recreate the magic of the records onstage with some high-profile gigs at Pitchfork Festival, FYF Fest, and more, and getting to see them right here in central Virginia is a dream come true for hip hop heads. Make sure you’re there–and show up on time to catch fiery opening sets from Harlem emcee crew Ratking and Queens rapper Despot, both of whom have plenty to offer in their own right.
