There is an absolute ton of events happening in the River City this weekend. It can be overwhelming! What to do?! When the weather is this nice, true locals hang out with friends on porches but for everyone else — don’t worry we are here to help. Here is our list for a good time this Halloweek Weekend!

ed. note — There are so many events happening this list is going to be incomplete but don’t get mad — leave any other great events in the comments and help everyone out!

I am not going into work tomorrow!’

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27th

UNHAPPY HOUR
Poe Museum 6 to 9pm
Hanging out and partying at the Poe Museum, with a bunch of people dressed as Poe, sounds like a good time to us! Long time Richmond musicians, and the original ‘spooky cool’ band, The Embalmers will be playing all our favourite Halloween themed tracks until 9pm — then its time to wander off to your next party.

SB’s LOVE SHACK AFTER DARK DANCE PARTY
SB’S Love Shack On Main Street 9pm – 2am
The Love Shack has a lovely brunch and is closed by 3pm but not this Thursday night! John Hulley of NO BS! Brass and Brunswick will have his ‘side hustle to his side hustle’ Pay Rent Brass Band in full effect until closing! Expect big horns, classic Halloween tracks, and a drunken costume contest. If you plan on coming here — make sure you take a Lyft home!

‘Jameson will help me power through!’

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28th

MEET YOUR DOOM!
114 W Marshall Street 5PM-9PM.
We love art and there is a good show on Friday. Brought to you by the good peoples at All City Art Club they have an art show celebrating the notorious rap villain MF DOOM! Expect street artists everywhere and an old skool hip hop vibe orchestrated by local DJ legend Hip Hop Henry.

THE ‘HALLOWINE’ COSTUME MIXER with THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND
The Broadberry 9PM-1AM
Three Sheets are a yacht rock cover band that brings the breezy vibes of the 70s and 80s onto Richmond dance floors. We are not huge on cover bands but when they are this good and this stupid fun — we can’t hate on it! Expect funky era appropriate costumes, heavy boozing and a sing-a-long to Toto’s ‘Africa’ at some point.

‘Its ONLY Saturday night?!!’

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29th

RICHMOND ZOMBIEWALK
Carytown 1PM-5PM
If you find yourself in Carytown on Saturday afternoon, you might look around and be surrounded by the undead, maybe a few Nosferatu and creatures of the night. Don’t panic! It is the 17th Annual Richmond Zombiewalk and you are invited to join in on the fun or just stand around and take selfies with zombies. Expect families of undead wandering the streets and a Happy Hour meet up at Get Tight around 5-ish.

RICHMOND KICKERS vS CHATTANOOGA RED WOLVES
City Stadium 6PM
Did you know the Kickers are league champs? The Red Army, the Richmond Kickers fan club, knows this and they will be there in force beating on the drums and chanting hooligan style to get the home crowd fired up! Expect families, beer drinking, doing ‘the wave’ is possible and with a victory — an all night party. If you haven’t been to a game ever, this is the one to goto.

HARDYWOOD + VA PRIDE ‘HALLO-QWEEN’ PARTY
Hardywood 6PM-9PM
Virginia Pride parties are a great time. Drinking enough Hardywood beer, also a great time. Let’s put these things together and see what happens. Richmond drag-star Michelle Livigne will be there putting on her usual amazing show and along with DJ OINuBi will have everyone in a good mood. Add to this mix I Would Die 4 U, a Prince Tribute band that is probably as close as you or me will ever get to seeing the legendary performer ever. If you are a Prince fan, don’t miss this show!

SPOOKY COOL ALBUM RELEASE SHOW
The Camel 7PM-12PM
As you might have read in our Must See Shows column this week, this will be a killer show featuring what we think is the next up Richmond bands Spooky Cool and Deli Kings. Expect a few beautiful mullets, great rock music, Stranger Things vibes — and its at The Camel, so a lot of hanging outside between sets smoking cigs and drinking cheap beer.

LOVE CLUB, A VERY DISCO HALLOWEEN
Jungle Room 9PM-2AM
Our favorite Asian style tiki bar slash nightclub is having a disco night curated by the well dressed duo of Constantine Giavos and Alex Delany with special guest Elliott. Expect absolutely great music, attractive young-ish people everywhere, sipping on a few tiki themed cocktails, and staying up way past closing.

PARTY LIBERATION FRONT PRESENTS OCTOBERWEEN
CreateSpace 9PM-2AM
607 Wickham Street

Wish you could be at Burning Man? The otherworldly costumes, the blinking art cars, fire everywhere you look, music in every corner, people dancing until daybreak — sounds like a place we want to be. Well lucky for you Richmond’s long time resident party makers Party Liberation Front are here to bring the experience to our backyard. Expect friendly freaks (and geeks), hypnotic fire performances done by pros and with this crew of deejays, big-bass-dance-tracks late into the night for sure! ‘Fuck it, let’s get weird.’

SUNDAY, ALL HALLOW’S EVE

RICHMOND MOON MARKET
Stone Brewing 12PM-5PM
If you are not too hungover, head over and surround yourself with crafts and wellness. Repent for your Halloween sins and support your local artisans. Enjoy the Vegan Action All Vegan Trunk Or Treat and catch the healing vibes of Righteous Roots, The Embalmers (they get around!) Ninja Stings and Junior Wilson! Expect art and more art, plus delicious food.

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW LIVE
The Byrd Theatre 8PM and 11PM
Well if you ever wanted to get weird and be around the weirdest, but mostly harmless, people in the city — this is the show for you. The performers from Yes, And! Theater Company will be singing all the songs in full costume while the movies plays in the background. Expect to cut loose, have some laughs and then let’s all hang out at NY Deli for the afterparty. Oh, the show at 8pm has already sold out, so snag a ticket for 11pm right now!

‘JoJo, I am not going home tonight!’

MONDAY, HALLOWEEN NITE

ALL SAINTS THEATER COMPANY PRESENTS THE 17TH ANNUAL HALLOWEEN PARADE
Monroe Park 7PM
This is the only thing we are going to on Halloween Night because its all you need OR as they describe this year, ‘Larger than life puppets, stilt walkers, a zombie string band, Richmond’s favorite Street Brass Band, The 9 Headed Demon Supreme Court!! Come to participate or support a pal puppeteer! Extinction Puppet will take down Supreme Court Demon!’

Sounds a little crazy right? Take it from us, its an amazing thing for the community and an event that is not to be missed. It starts in Monroe Park and winds throughout Oregon Hill. At the end, all the paraders and the attending crowds come together for a happy jam hang to dance off the stress of the world before wandering off to the many house parties happening around the area. Not to be missed!

Btw, All Saints Theater Company has a Go Fund Me, please if you can donate and help keep this Richmond tradition alive!

Whew, that’s it. Go have fun with the blessing of RVA Magazine & GayRVA and remember, don’t drive drunk! Catch a ride.
