Either way, he’s come to the aid of a Roanoke City council and Commonwealth Transportation Board member whose come under fire for smoking weed.
Court Rosen, the council/board member in question, was appointed by McAuliffe in 2014. Turns out Rosen got a misdemeanor possession charge last week and some wondered if it would impact his status on the state’s Board of Transportation.
“For smoking marijuana, I don’t believe you should be removed from one of our commissions or boards,” The Governor told Roanoke.com. “If I started removing everybody in the commonwealth of Virginia for that, we’d probably have fewer board members to be honest with you.”
Oh man, fuck’n Terry Mac over here, calling out his appointees for being pot heads – Good times.
Rosen, 36, was charged with the misdemeanor possession charge after police responded to a call about drug use in a local parking lot. He was issued a summons and allowed to drive away from the scene of the crime.
“I will accept full responsibility for my actions, and I want to assure everyone that this has not and will not affect my public service,” the councilman said in an email to Ronaoke.com shortly after the infraction occurred. “It is a personal matter that I, along with my family, will address in a direct, immediate, and positive way. I deeply and sincerely regret any embarrassment I have caused my family, colleagues, and the citizens of Roanoke and I humbly apologize.”
I’m still stuck on McAuliffe’s quote… I’ve met the guy and he talks and looks as slick as you’d imagine. But, man, I bet he rolls a mean blunt.
Also, considering the hard drug abuse rates in Western Virginia, pot is the least of anyone’s worries.
