The editors of GayRVA.com and RVAMag are looking for interns. We have five positions to fill and we would love to have you on our staff.
What will you be doing?
1. Writing – a lot of writing. You will be responsible for some of the more regular weekly content (event previews, album reviews, business listing updates, etc)
2. Interviewing – you will be speaking to LOTS of different people. The voices of the community help define a publication, and you will be seeking out those voices.
3. Managing and maintaining social media – you’ll help our core staff with our social media, sometimes live tweeting, or posting regularly to Tumblr and Instagram.
4. Pitching and developing long-form stories – we want to help you get published, we want to see you succeed. We’ll help you get there.
Requirements:
While your school’s programs might differ, we are asking for a minimum of 100 hours over the semester. That works out to about 6.5 hours a week. This might be in office, in the field, or covering events.
You will cover hard news. You will go to events and concerts. You will be a member of our editorial team. You will have fun. You will make coffee.
We will NOT be chasing interns down. This is a serious offer with the chance to do real work. Don’t blow it.
