In a statement released on their website, the 7-year-old Globe Hopper Coffee shop announced that they are closing their doors at the end of this month.
In a web of stories which for some reason haven’t been linked by any of the other publications in town, the group opposing baseball in the Bottom have declared victory.
The video below doesn’t tell us much; a man is beaten to the ground in debatable shape, people are running everywhere, a cop (evidently) punches a guy in the face.
There was a long stretch of time where Richmonders found themselves at odds over the future of Shockoe Bottom, and the possible baseball stadium which could have been.

A few weeks ago, Richmond City Council hesitantly gave its support for Mayor Jones’ “Revitalize RVA” project, which would include a new baseball stadium in Shockoe Bottom.

After hearing that Shamrock The Block would be moving from its longtime location in Shockoe Bottom to the Boulevard this year, quite a few business owners in Shockoe Bottom were upset. Instead of sitting around and complaining, though, they’ve organized an event of their own to take place at 17th Street Farmer’s Market this Saturday.
