If you are heading to the sold-out Weezer show at The National tonight, get there early and see the opening band, The Last Internationale. This rock/folk/blues band is reminiscent of late 1960s-1970s protest bands and are influenced by the likes of Woody Guthrie, Joan Baez, and Joni Mitchell. The trio–Delila Paz, Edgy Pires, and Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave/Black Sabbath)–who hail from New York, blend punk-ish rock songs like “Crawling Queen Snake” with heartfelt ballads like Buffy Sainte-Marie’s “Cod’ine.” You will be thrown back in time with several of the tunes feeling the political heat of past eras that still seem relevant today. Keep these “Rebel Rockers” on your radar.
