RVa’s weird and wacky costumed rockers Imaginary Sons are back to their old shenanigans, alter egos included, and this Sunday the group will release a new single from their upcoming album at Strange Matter, along with a performance of course.

The first 20 people through the door get a free copy of Imaginary Sons’ latest single “Sloburd.”

Guitarist and vocalit for Imaginary Sons Tommy Crisafulli said the group has been busy since December working with John Morand from Sound of Music Studios working on the album. They wrapped it up about a month ago.

“It’s a little more of a chilled out song,” he said. “It features Sara Stavroula who sings with Toxic {Moxie} she sang on the track she added her voice and it was incredible.”

From the snippet below you can tell it’s definitely more laid back than some of their other material, but according to Crisafulli, it has a more serious meaning behind it.

“The song is about relationships and isolation from everybody and feeling the need to be isolated from everybody around you,” he said. “Then the realization that you do need people in your life, you do need your friends and your family to help you get through things you can’t always just rely on yourself.”

“Sloburd” is the second track on their upcoming album, Don’t Impress Me, due out near the end of April. The song will be available for download in full on Monday.

“Taste the Waste” was the band’s first single off the upcoming album which they so nicely let us premiere in November.

In addition to a performance and new single from the Imaginary Sons, WYDYDE, Venus Guytrap and California Death will also be performing at the show this weekend.

Imaginary Sons will drop their new single “Sloburd” this Sunday, April 3rd, at Strange Matter. Doors open at 8:30 pm and music starts at 9:#0 pm. $5 cover. And check back with RVA Mag later this month for an interview with Imaginary Sons on their new album.
