This Friday at Gallery 5, Anti-Mag and Lady J Productions celebrate Valentine’s Day a week early with their presentation of “The Classics… No Effin’ Romance.” This multifaceted performing arts extravaganza will feature new interpretations of classic stories brought to life in tantalizing burlesque style! Hosted by Lady J and the mysterious Ego Von Hubris, this event will feature performances by leading lights of the local burlesque scene, including Deanna Danger, Scarlet Starlet, Skye Sinclaire, Kimberly Kosmo, Ophelia Ruin, and more, as well as a special appearance by Baltimore’s own Paco Fish. Deanna Danger in particular has promised “one of [her] most fucked up routines ever,” so that’s enough reason to show up right there! The evening will also feature musical performances from Anousheh and Hannah Rucker, as well as a raffle with prizes from a variety of local sponsors. This event marks the relaunch of Anti-Mag and Lady J Productions, a welcome development in a local performing arts scene that has been growing by leaps and bounds over the past few years. Come see the RVA burlesque scene in full flower at this magical event full of dancing and storytelling. Oh, and pasties–can’t forget the pasties. It’ll be a blast, and it’s all going down tomorrow night at Gallery 5!
