What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts’ desire.

If you missed last week’s beer news, you can check those out here. Our cup is overflowing with news this week from releases to events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

Hardywood Park Craft Brewery is celebrating six years with a big party this Saturday. The taproom opens at 1PM. Free to attend. All ages welcome. Here’s what we have in store: Food trucks! Dank EatsSmokie JOE’S BBQde Rochonnet delights ChocolatierSlideways Mobile Bistro & Curry in a Hurry! -Beer truck! We’re overflowing with appreciation for our distribution partners at Brown Distributing- Richmond, VA and look forward to tapping some great beers (+ cider!) from their other Virginia craft breweries. Live music, yard games and a 6th Anniversary Brew, a  hoppy imperial milk stout is brewed with coffee and coconut and aged one year in bourbon barrels.

This Saturday, October 21st Carytown’s Garden Grove will OFFICIALLY become Garden Grove Brewing & URBAN WINERY, Richmond’s first production facility to serve both beer and wine! The first day they will have THREE draft wine options (two sparkling and two still) and TWO bottled wines. Keep your eyes peeled for a story on this tomorrow!

This Friday, Triple Crossing will release its Valhalla DIPA, part of its Lockout series, at the Fulton location. The brew is a 100% intensely hopped Citra DIPA. Big notes of orange zest and grapefruit.

Strangeways Brewing is still celebrating Oktoberfest. through the end of this month. They will have their seasonal Oktoberfest beer FEST, steins, Bavarian pretzels, and beer cheese.

Three Notch’d Brewing RVA Collab House returns this Thursday and Friday with its weekly collab and this time they are tapping two brews. First up, is the Re-Release of “Game Theory”, an Imperial Stout made Joey Johnson. They will also have GT Bottle Variants “Double Vanilla Rye Whiskey” & a “Rye Whiskey” release. (Only 24 Bottles Total, 1 Bottle Per Variant Per Customer). Keg and Bottles release at 5pm

On Friday they will release “Hub Hopper” IPA (Collab w/ Synaps. The brewery is asking for a suggested $10 donation to help benefit the Disability Law Center of VA and Richmond Justice Initiative. Sponsored by Steve Peterson & Associates and Synapse. Keg taps at 5pm, 1st set begins at 530pm.

On Friday, Final Gravity Brewing Co. will release its Hazed DIPA, made by  Justin Vaughn and Jess Chapman, who took home the gold medal for their Double IPA at the 2017 JRHB DOMINION CUP HOMEBREW COMPETITION.

On Wednesday, Ardent Craft Ales will release its second batch of their Reservoir Distilled IPA. It’s a collaboration between their Scott’s Addition neighbors Reservoir Distillery. The whiskey distilled from Ardent’s IPA will be available exclusively at the Reservoir Distillery tasting room for $65

And on Thursday, Ardent will release its imperial milk stout on Thursday. Continental Divide Richmond will be serving up some grub.

On Saturday, Buskey Cider will release its Pumpkin Spice Latte Cider. The cider is put on nitrogen, and is crafted with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and, of course, pumpkin, all topped off with milk sugar and a hit of Blanchard’s Coffee Roasting Co. coffee.

Twisted Ales will release its Inglorious Skyraider IPA in cans on Saturday. Hazy New England IPA dry hopped with Citra and Mosaic. The brewery will celebrate Oktoberfest that day, with music, contests, beer, and Gemütlichkeit! Dirndls and Lederhosen attire is encouraged!

This month, Fine Creek Brewing Co. in Powhatan is releasing a beer every weekend. his weekend we release our SMOKED MARZEN, similar to our Oktoberfest Marzen, this is a dark malty lager but made with rauch (smoke) malts to impart a strong smoky flavor.

On Thursday, the brewery will be giving a portion of their proceeds to Capital Caring, a group that excels in offering coordinated care, comfort, and dignity to those living with serious illness.

Castleburg Brewery will bring back their Dark ages Imperial Maple Brown Ale on Friday. The Dark Ages is our Silver Medal winning Bishop’s Brown Ale recipe, turned IMPERIAL! We added Pure Vermont Maple Syrup and cinnamon sticks

On Thursday, October 19th Väsen Brewing Company will gather for this month’s Richmond Green Drinks happy hour and cheers to Chesapeake Bay Foundation! There will be a food truck onsite, and many delicious beers to purchase.

RED VEIN Haunted House will sponsor an evening of monsters, movies, and trivia on Thursday at Intermission Beer Company! Costumed Creatures will be on site from 6-8 pm for ticket giveaways, prizes, and there will be beer of course!

On Saturday, Center of the Universe will release its You Are Here IPA, with Galaxy and Mosaic hops. Image may contain: night and text

It’s Third Thursdays at The Veil Brewing Co.and from 5p-8p 15 percent of sales will go to The Doorways.
Since 1984, The Doorways has served Virginia and the world – from Richmond. Each year, they welcome more than 9,500 guests for over 50,000 nights of lodging. Blue Bee Cider will host “Bull-O-Ween” a benefit for River City Bull Dog Rescue this Saturday. Costume contests, dog treats, cider, friendly, leashed dogs welcome.
