The Lockn’ Festival is happening at the beginning of September, and with headliners like Tom Petty, The Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, and Furthur, it’s sure to be a highly sought-after ticket. As it turns out, it’s also a highly sought-after gig for quite a few popular local bands.

Bands from all over Virginia have been participating in a multi-round tournament for a spot on the bill, and that tournament has reached its final round, to be held at the Jefferson Theater this Saturday. Amazingly enough, three of the four bands still in the running for the festival slot are based in RVA, and should all be familiar to the readers of this publication. And here they are…

People’s Blues Of Richmond:

The Northerners:

The Trongone Band:

Also on the bill will be Charlottesville’s Erin And The Wildfire, though we assume all our RVA readers’ allegiances will be elsewhere:

Regardless of which of these bands are your favorite, they could all use your support and your votes to help them get onto the Lockn’ Festival lineup. Plus, they’ll be coming together to make a great lineup of Virginia-based rock n’ roll for you to enjoy on a Saturday night! So this weekend, get ready to make the trip to Charlottesville and have a blast cheering for your local faves!
