OK, I know it’s really just New York Deli’s 8th anniversary under current management–really, it’s been in Carytown for something like 90 years. But the New York Deli we’ve all come to know and love over the past eight years is definitely its own thing, and a dance party is the perfect way to celebrate its anniversary!

So come out tomorrow night at 10 PM to the New York Deli, located at 2920 W. Cary St, and get ready for some serious groovin to go down.

By now, everyone in RVA should be completely familiar with the brand of soul/funk/R&B that DJ Pari and Mr. Felty join together to create at their monthly Soulpower DJ nights. Spinning nothing but original, vintage 45 RPM singles, this dynamic duo brings the golden age of soul and funk to life. You’ll hear all sorts of great tunes, from beloved classics to gems plucked from obscurity by DJ Pari and Mr. Felty’s diligent crate-digging. They’ll be switching off behind the turntables to keep the music going all night, so you never have to stop dancing!

To give you a more specific idea of what you’re gonna hear, though, here’s a recent mix by DJ Pari featuring “lots of records that are on my current club gig playlist”–or at least, were back at the beginning of the year when he made this mix. Enjoy the tunes, which should help you smoothly cruise through your Friday and get ready for the long holiday weekend.
