Those who’ve become familiar with the monthly Brews & Burlesque events at Strangeways Brewing, presented by comical neo-burlesque troupe Those Freaking Weirdos, have no doubt become familiar with Dev L. Ish. Acting as hostess with the mostest at all of these events since they kicked off a year ago, Miss Dev L. Ish has played an important role in the amusingly scandalous activities that have occupied the Strangeways stage during these monthly performances, as well as the productions this crew has been putting on at Richmond CenterStage over the past two years. Sadly, though, the time has come for her to move on, and this month’s Brews & Burlesque will be your last chance to see Dev L. Ish do her thing as part of these particular festivities.

Not to worry, though–Those Freaking Weirdos will be sending her off in proper fashion, with regular performers Moxie LaBouche and Dante The Inferno hitting the stage accompanied by special guests Cherrie Canary and Bella LaBlanc. The show will also feature stage kitten Cate Hysteria, and will culminate with Dev passing her hosting duties on to incoming MC Ego Von Hubris–who has hopefully not doomed himself to a tragic downfall with such a dramatic stage name. One thing we can tell for sure–he won’t be some shy wallflower!

Come see exactly what Those Freaking Weirdos have in store for you, and say farewell to Dev L. Ish in the proper fashion. It all takes place this Friday night at Strangeways Brewing, located at 2277 Dabney Road. Doors open at 8:30 PM, with the show kicking off promptly at 9, so don’t be late! Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door, and can be purchased HERE. For more info, click here.

Or, if you’d rather see the show for FREE, your pals at RVA Magazine have the hookup! We’re giving away a pair of tickets to Brews & Burlesque this month, and they could be yours if you just enter your info into the Punchtab box below this paragraph. Keep an eye out for extra chances to win, and be sure to enter by Friday at noon, because that’s when we’ll be closing down the drawing and selecting our winner! Good luck!

REVIEW | Ducking Awesome! WitchDuck Is Smart, Sharp, and Ruthless

I am rarely speechless, especially about theatre. Since I don’t get paid if I remain silent, I will make myself criticize a play I don’t feel I have any right to judge. Gotta pay the rent, and all that. I came into this performance of WitchDuck by Cadence and...
