DC gallery Art Whino and brewers Heineken hosted an exclusive premiere in DC this past weekend for the annual G40 Art Summit at their new space, Blind Whino, merging gallery art with mural art.

Over a thousand VIP and media guests were in attendance to view thousands of new brow and lowbrow art pieces at the Blind Whino in SW DC. Heineken sponsored Friday night’s event and brought muralists from all over the world to participate in their mural project which is making DC their latest addition.

The 19th century church Art Whino renovated was painted inside and out by these popular muralists, some of which were in attendance. Art enthusiasts walked the halls of the building to experience the work which Art Whino is trying so vigorously to expose DC to. Art Whino and Heineken formed a dynamic duo since they share the desire to bring art to the masses.

The attendees enjoyed beverages and music complements of Heinken and were able to meet the four muralists of Heineken’s Mural Project. Muralist Ever traveled from Argentina while the other three are American. Their artwork was exhibited in a lounge in the Blind Whino with the walls painted in vibrant colors and geometric shapes that contrast the historic architecture of the church.

Although there was plenty of art work to view inside the gallery and along the walls of the building, artist Brendan Tierney took the event to a new height when he got spray paint and began painting a backdrop outside.

The crowd enjoyed watching the muralist in his element and viewing the process of mural art. The Heineken Mural Artists tagged the backdrop and invited guests to spray paint along with them.

The four murals being created from the artists can be found throughout DC with popup parties by Heineken throughout the week at the mural locations. The G40 Art Summit presented by Art Whino will be opening this weekend to the public and will run through Oct.6. More information on the events can be found here.
