Here’s an event that should appeal to hip hop heads and fashion savvy youth alike. Tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM, the VCU Student Hip Hop Organization will be presenting a lecture by Greg Selkoe, CEO of Karmaloop. A popular online clothing retailer that’s been in business on the internet since 2001–early days for small businesses on the web–Karmaloop has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade, now encompassing multiple web platforms and many different business ventures. Their work with hip hop streetwear has led to high-profile tie-ins with artists, most recently including ASAP Rocky. Karmaloop’s online empire also includes KarmaloopTV, which covers cutting-edge content related to music, art, and hip hop culture, and which Selkoe considered launching as a cable TV channel but has to this point kept as an online-only venture. Karmaloop has even been involved with some political organizing, registering thousands of voters in 2008 with their Declare Yourself campaign.

Now, Selkoe will be in RVA, sharing his insights with you! He will be speaking at VCU’s Commons Theater tomorrow afternoon, beginning at 2 PM. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A period during which audience members may ask Selkoe any appropriate questions. The event is free and open to the public. Come see what wisdom Greg Selkoe has to impart!
